GEOFFREY BEENE was one of the very few TRUE AMERICAN DESIGNERS.
His originality is unparalleled
and he always sashayed to "his own orchestra".
He did not merely manufacture Couture Sportswear and Dresses,
(as most American Designers do)
he had his own unique perspective on STYLE.
Many of the Haute Couture create One-Of-A-Kind fantasies that appear on the runway,
not as fashion, but as High Art.
Americans delight in a less complicated lifestyle
and we covet our comfort in Casual pieces that
rely almost completely on the beauty of their fabrications and elegance of styling.

GEOFFREY BEENE's designs were structured but never rigid & depend on the craftsmanship of careful detail.
Many of his designs contain an element of fantasy.
He exhibited a casual approach to opulent fabrics
and successfully blended materials in an unexpected way.
He loved Flannel with Rhinestones,
Cotton Ticking with Chiffon or Jersey with Taffeta.

GEOFFREY BEENE, known for his rich and imaginative clothes
showed his creativity by designing with a relaxed elegance.
After half a century Beene reserved his energies for his aesthetic vision,
one that varied, but remained true to his own fundamentals.
Sadly, with his death, the GEOFFREY BEENE Couture label was discontinued.
This was an enormous loss to the world of Fashion everywhere.
His work continues to be an inspiration to designers on every continent.

Tagged a Size 10 - only the waistline of the skirt confines the figure (can be adjusted)
and was taken in by the original owner

The Short Jacket has 3 vintage black totally beaded buttons
Rounded U-Shaped Neckline and long Dolman Sleeves
But the cuff of the blouse can still poke through and be visible at the ends
The jacket is a rich black wool with a horizontal zigzag twill
Completely lined in black silk
Beautiful seaming front and back with a straight hemline

The blouse is a Black Silk Semi-Sheer Organza
Covered with a Hematite and silver Baroque Swirl patterning that covers the entire top
The body of the Tunic features a double layer of material for modesty.
Round Jewel Neckline with a fastening tie at the back of the neck.
Long full Dolman sleeves with a tiny button at the banded cuffline
The sleeves have only one layer of material so the arms are more sheer than the body of the blouse.

Hipline measurement doesn't matter as there are yards of material in the body of the skirt

86" of hemline cut on a bias and finished with the Hematite Metallic Ribbon.
Each inner seam is perfect and finished with the french detailing - no room for letting out.
Alterations for making it a bit smaller can be done.
