Now back in New York after a two-season decampment to Paris.
For Fall 2010 RUCCI has developed the study in transparency and texture
Up close and personal, you can really appreciate the remarkable techniques
and exquisite indulgences Rucci is known for.
The designer spared no expense with day looks either,
splicing wool jersey dresses with panels of asymmetrically hand-tucked taffeta and tulle,
and cashmere jackets and coats along the lines of the inset patterns.

Rucci applied his fresh notions throughout, first to his classics,
lightening up the arcing seams of sculptural suits and dresses with horsehair insets,
and then pushing into new territory with geometric insets of cashmere on cashmere
The effect was both modern and, yes, sexy.

Ralph Rucci has received a National Design Award from Cooper-Hewitt.
But you scarcely need that nugget of information to know that
Rucci likes his fashion sculptural and dripping with concept and reference.

Since 1994, Ralph Rucci has called his Ready-to-Wear Collection CHADO.
Named after a Japanese Tea Ceremony
which creates an overall sense of grace & elegance.

It is rare to find a fashion designer who is also a sculptor and a decorator,
but RUCCI has all of these skills and more! reminiscent of Balenciaga at his best.

In 2001, Rucci was invited to join the HAUTE COUTURE Collections in Paris,
Being the first American to have this honor since Mainbocher more than 50 years ago.
His American Mentor is James Galanos.
